Featured Can anyone id this teapot

I would be grateful for any information on this teapot. Unmarked. Relief decoration and a serpent around the handle. Is it English? Antique? Its a bit of a mystery to me.

Out of my area, but looks porcelain to me with a little ivory knurl on top for the handle? Very pretty!!!!!

Well I’m teapot-ignorant, but the knob and metal finial (pewter, Silver?) look to be screwed onto the lid. Knob is what, ivory, porcelain? Anyway that knob and finial might lead you to a country or maybe even a company since it might be unusual. Maybe show underside of lid to show how knob is attached.

 

What kind of flower is that with five short stamen? I don’t know flowers either.

 

Looks English and antique to me, don't know by who. Maybe @rhiwfield or @Ownedbybear will know.

I'm wondering if the knob on the top isn't original? It doesn't seem like the right look for the rest of the teapot?

 

Thanks for the replies. Im not sure about the knob. It looks like bone but doesnt feel like bone. Maybe a later addition. Dudson may be a good shout.

Actually I had already listed it on ebay. I should have held on probably. Its on a 7 day auction starting yesterday.

I found this on Pinterest. It is simply described as a Victorian relief moulded jug. No further info.

 

This person also thought Dudson from this closed listing but it's not obvious from the mark. You could ask why they thought that.

You could ask the Dudson Museum.

 

I'd call that pot sprigged - although it looks to be relief moulded, it's a valid term for the style. Cornfl0wers.

Dudson? Dunno. Clay doesn't look right or the gilding. That jug on Ebay does look Dudson though, and is more crisply done.

Someone has put a replacement knop on it many years ago.

Wendy Wallace Johnson Attributed to Ridgway. "Chrysanthemum," 1835. I've also seen gilded versions, but I much prefer this. Beautiful.

Paul Fawcett Ridgway and Dudson worked very closely together, dudson is known for making a couple of ridgway registered designs, dont have an image handy, sorry

James Poles Dudson makes more sense than Ridgway for this piece based on the body of the piece and color. I was unaware that Dudson and Ridgway worked closely together for some output.
