Amateur collector wanting to learn more!

Hello! My name is Max, I’m 22 and an aspiring museum professional. I’m currently working as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the south central Ohio area. I’ve been surrounded by antiques and family heirlooms from a young age, which probably explains my passion for museum work. I’m excited to engage with members here so that I can learn more about my small (minuscule, really) collection and further explore my love of historical items and antiques!

We love to see young people getting involved in learning about truly old stuff!

 

I’ve loved old stuff ever since I was around eight years old, when my grandma opened an old trunk in a spare bedroom to reveal letters and photos from the 1800s. I about keeled over! Since then I’ve worked with even older documents and photos, and I’m constantly turning my car around because I saw a sign that said “So-and-so’s Antique Shop.”

This is my first year in AmeriCorps, and I’m very excited!
