Featured obscure birds

looks like painted terra cotta, has a mark RM over G. and a separate signature. height 21 cm by 32 cm diagonally.
all ideas, hints etc. welcome. TIA.

Or Mernick? Birds look like falcons of some type. The G. below the RM could be short for one of the G words we batted around in this thread:

Love the birds. They seem to take themselves very seriously.
It looks like R. Moennich to me.
There was a Paul Moennich, who was a scientist and artist, but I can't find an R. Moennich.
Maybe our magnificent searcher @i need help can find R. Moennich?

 

I wonder as well about the bottom number. who uses two hyphens below the o ?

 

I have seen two lines under the o of No before. It used to be done here in the Netherlands, but this doesn't strike me as a Dutch piece.
German names on the other hand are not unusual here, due to an enormous influx of German speakers during the 17th century, the Dutch Golden Age. So I wouldn't rule out the Low Countries as a possible origin altogether.

It sure makes me think of the Martin Brothers. But, the marks belie that attribution. Really interesting piece!

Good idea.
I thought about these as well, especially Reinhold Merkelbach. but these worked in saltglaze mostly. but I'll check if they ever used a simple G for Grenzhausen before the villages were united in 1936.

 

why do I buy such stuff anyway ?
didn't find a fitting name in several books I still have from the olden days when I collected salt glaze Westerwald stuff.
so off it goes to the looooooooooooooooong shelf with the mystery items.
sometimes it helps me to forget about it and when looking at it after a while - bingo, there's the solution.

@Fid -- I haven't translated this Polish page yet, but the sig looks similar.

Looks like they do not know the artist name, either, but the sig has two extra letters, "er" or "en" at the end. And there is a label, apparently:
