Unsigned Antique Painting on Rough Canvas

Any info or thoughts on this painting I found today at a local thrift store? It's not signed even though I think it's well done - why wouldn't the artist sign a painting?
Also, it's on a coarse canvas - can anyone tell it's age or where it's from by the canvas?
Is this a renaissance scene? (so I know what to call it)
ANY information would be appreciated - I thought I saw a signature (to left of limb in 3rd & 4th from last photo) at the thrift store but at home & looking again I don't think it's a signature.

Below - If you look to the left of the bare tree limb I thought that was a signature

 

From a different angle - if you look at the nottom limb (bare one with no leaves); doesn't it look like EMY or similar letters; like the end of a name?

Can't find the original... but what a wonderful painter!

Always the original. Copying is easy - most of the work has already been done.

 

Ah, the one above. Christie's appears to have auctioned the original. Looks like a market scene though, not a fiesta.
