It is roughly a foot in length with thick glass and very heavy. The lid has a handle with perfectly round hole through it.
Trying to figure out what this is and what it was used for.
Refer to the three photos below.
    Thanks!

Is it a mold of some kind? The hole lets the heat out?

welcome to the forum Amy:) I thought maybe a desk organizer, but wouldn't have a lid, so no idea.
'If the glass is green it ain't vaseline', a saying from long ago. Vaseline glass will be yellow, so yours is called uranium glass:)

found this one in a barber grouping described as lidded shaving box, which seems to make sense considering the compartmentation and venting

scroll down in article: "One of the new items brought out in 1927 and furnished in Peach-Blo, as well as other colors, was the "Sani-Shaving Service," and this item was featured on the cover of the June 13, 1927 issue of China, Glass & Lamps."

the article mentions the color here was called emerald...

The pink one sold for $325.00 in January 2021, and the green one sold for 131.61 in December 2013 if anyone is curious.

The cross-shaped area on the left is for the razor.

The rectangle next to it is for the blades.

The slot next to it is for (?) maybe a stypdic pencil or something.

The two big compartments are for the brush and...something.

That shaving set is really great. I've never seen one before. Thanks for sharing, Amy! Where did you find it?

I learned something new! After 5 years working at an antique store and buying and selling antiques, I have not had anyone tell me that. Very interesting! Thank you for that! I fell like no matter how much you think you know, there’s always so much more to learn.

Feeling a little foolish, it makes complete sense though. Vaseline is not green…I’m laughing at myself as I write this….

Don't feel foolish. I think most people here learn something new quite frequently. I know I do.
    This is the best forum.

That’s amazing. I found one similar on eBay and they listed it as a desk organizer, but that definitely makes more sense. Thank you so much.

So there is such a thing as orange uranium glass then? I’ve only seen green, yellow and opalescent yellow. Now I want all the colors. Which color is the most rare, if I may ask?

My guess would be that the other large compartments would be for the Brush and the Shaving Soap.

Not really. Glass with Uranium in it glows green, Glass with Cadmium/Selenium may glow orange, it depends on the the valence of the compound. Please don't ask me to explain. But glass that glows under black light may be characterized as "Black Light Reactive Glass" but should not be called "Uranium glass" just because it glows.
