Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

@Marko, that is LOVELY!!! Of course I HAD to see if I could find anything!! Looks like there are initials or a partial signature that "might" help @Bronwen....hoping anyway!! For MYSELF, I think I might be seeing 'VkRei'....but as you said there is something obscured by the frame below bottom left also?????

Nope - just the one unidentified dude. Already off to a new home with the bronze bowl. The icon's owner made a pile of trips to Russia and the icon was randomly hanging on a wall.

I almost never shop anymore since inheriting a ton from my father aka “Captain Collectible” but I was dropping off at the thrift and decided to pop in. This has my name all over it for $10. A Pullman RR creamer I haven’t cleaned up yet. I’m guessing 1930 ish.

Thanks for your work in making the inscription more visible. I'm afraid it doesn't convey anything to me. In the thread @Marko started for the cameo by itself, I puzzled at the jagged edge of that section of the frame. Now I wonder if it's the result of someone trying to expose more of the signature.

I'd have grabbed that too - railroad in the ancestry will do it every time.

I bought more jools today. The nice bangle lady was back.

Is anyone surprised by this factoid?

I saw an ad on Craigslist, 'boxes of Tupperware, Must take it all':) I thought 'well, how much Tupperware can one person have', so I messaged them and went over to have a look. I did ask in my message how many boxes, they replied 'lots'. Holy cow, there was 20 large boxes of it:) Turns out the lady sold Tupperware back in the day, this was stuff she never sold and it had been in boxes since then. I've been selling it locally on MarketPlace, people love the old stuff.
I had never seen or heard of the Ultra 21 Overware before, wasn't in production for very long. I've been selling it in groups shown in the photo below, $50 and it went fast, had 10 sets of it:)

here some of the items I picked up this week, I started a thread on the silver bowl:)
I love the little ink well house from Lausanne. I'm a sucker for stone fireplace lamps, this one needs some work, not sure why but a pencil sharpener has been glued to the top of the finial

Sounds like a perfectly acceptable spot for a pencil sharpener to me. :D

That Sherman set is gorgeous. As for the pencil sharpener, a piece the same size probably came loose and the sharpener was handy. They'll also never need to turn a light on to see to sharpen a pencil.

Whole lamp looks home made from bits & bobs that were ready to hand. I think the pencil sharpener makes a splendid, creative finial for this lamp. And if you didn't look closely, would you know it was a pencil sharpener?

    Sometimes, I also buy bags. Buba is a modern brand and not cheap. The leather is fabulous. C31D.jpg C31B.jpg C30C.jpg C31A.jpg C30B (2).jpg C30A (2).jpg C32B.jpg C31C.jpg C30C.jpg C30D.jpg

Oh, and I still use early 70s Tupperware. Like cockroaches, it will survive the heat death of the universe.

    lol wiscbirddog:)
too late, I know it is a pencil sharpener so it sticks out like a sore thumb:)

I can't remember if these lamps were kits you could buy, mine has the original wood slat shade. I used to see them often at sales, not so much anymore.

My little pile of stuff from the antique store on Friday. I took in that bronze bowl, an airport art African statuette, may wine glasses, a Tiffany glass bowl and assorted things of much nicer metals. Came home with a fat check and these guys. The necklace is sterling with a dyed??? blue stone - pure Deco. Not cheap. The locket has two pictures inside, also straight 30s. The ring is a motlety mix made by...somebody. The last piece is a WWII Navy sweetheart pin.
