    Hello again!

Here is another misterious piece I have been holding on to for quite a while. Just now beginning to investigate it. All the info I have found, points to some sort of Celadon Ware maybe Yaozhou?? Maybe fake? The lid appears to be some kind of animal, fu dog perhaps? 497F54E8-985F-4A97-A4AB-2194DD9E20F3.jpeg 0CCA2DE8-8634-43C6-88AD-7A97CCDDC7BC.jpeg A794903E-994A-45CA-BFA6-4D3B5911DD63.jpeg B1CE6536-111B-405C-8013-63AD2C6190B7.jpeg 4882149C-C217-4A62-AE34-67F0980B123C.jpeg E94E7875-D2FD-4213-9930-11AA7A5EBDAE.jpeg 18883B50-376E-49E1-98E4-82256091BABE.jpeg A680AFF0-1B3A-41AC-85AC-0A228341291B.jpeg Any help appreciated, thanks...

Hi! I'm having a hard time telling on my monitor, is the clay on your piece dark brown? It's possible it is green glazed Yixing ware from China. I'm no expert on Chinese porcelain but Yixing can come in many colors ranging from tan to deep brown to almost purple. Hope you find out more!

    Hi Juli,
The color is a deep olive green and is crackled. Have not found anything more about it except what I previously mentioned in my last post.. Thanks!

Juli, maybe I misunderstood your question, were you asking specifically about the clay color shown on the bottom rim? If that was the case, it is a brick red color. When I stated olive green, I meant that is the overall color on the vase..:)

Is celadon ever a dark green? I think of it as a medium or lighter green.

I'm no expert on Chinese porcelain or pottery, but yes, I was referring to the clay, not the glaze. You might check with a Chinese porcelain message board somewhere. I'm not sure if Yixing ware will have a red tint to the clay. You could also look at Google images when you search "Yixing" and/or "Green glazed Yixing" and see if you find anything similar. Celedon glaze, I believe, can also be different shades of green.

You are correct, Celadon is usually a light or blue green color, although there are some variations. That is why I mentioned if it might be Yaozhu type, as according to what I read, Yaozhu is a type of celadon or greenware usually of darker shades of green. I really have no clue if it is even either though..

    Thanks Juli,

I did do a Google search on Yixing and found nothing similar to this vase. I found more similarities searching for Celadon Vase with Animal Head Loop Handles. This search brought up some vases with similarities, but not quite like mine. Some results did have animal head loop handles and/or Fu Dog lids, but the overall color and style just was not at all the same..

Hi komokwa! I think it just wasn't a very crisp mold.
