    Hey everyone,

I picked up this painting at the second hand store for not much money. It appears to be a painting of a scene on the island of Capri. The artist has signed it "RIPPA". I have done some searching and have not found any information on this artist, however, I did find this eBay auction from 2015 where a similar piece of the same scene signed by the same artist sold for €199. Here is their description:

    http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eB...6&pm=1&ds=0&t=1421871462000&ver=0&cspheader=1

The only other piece of information I found is from an antique website where a piece signed by "RIPPA" is listed for €650. Here is the link:

    https://www.proantic.com/en/display.php?mode=obj&id=80796

Now I am not getting my hopes up as I am not lucky enough to fine a valuable piece of art for not much money hahaha. Though has anybody heard of this artist? Is it unusual for an artist to paint the same scene twice with slight variations?

Any information is always greatly appreciated. Here are some pictures:

This is one from the link above. Looks like mason board. Maybe some can figure something out. I don’t see this artist on askart.

Please attach them all in the thread. Toggling back and forth to the Gallery is not the best way for people to view your piece.

I like the painting and it looks well-done to me. The artist doesn't appear to be listed, though... I didn't see him/her in findartinfo.com or askart.com.

I WOULD BET THIS PAINTING CREATED ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS THE ONE ABOVE. THE ISLE OF CAPRI?

Yes, Capri. The Phoenician Steps. Would think those were decorative. Souvenirs perhaps.

There are painters who only sell their work on cruise ships and it's usually decorative art like this. My cousin kept buying some every time they cruised. It treads the line between fine art and mass produced 'sofa' art. I'd be looking at cruise ship artists because this one seems prolific enough not to be from the Chinese studios.
