seem a bit far 'fetched'!!!

Wow, that's incredible and weird. I also wonder if the word mighe was misspelled or was used in place of the word might. Hmmm.

 

Women have been doing weird things to their bodies since the beginning of time. Better sinkers than corsets! (or spammers - just reported the one above)

 

I try to take care not to stretch my earlobes by wearing heavy earrings too long or too often, but then, I don't have the 'wrong', non-detached earlobes to correct. What would the author make of today's multi-piercings?

 

How about those earrings that take up the whole ear and leave a hole the size of a penny? Both men and women do that, well some men and women.

 

Those gauge things? They've come and gone, but the holes remain.

 

And @Bronwen, you wouldn't BELIEVE how MANY Corset ads there are in these books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEESH!!! Well, the 1913 one I just finished with anyway....!!

 

And here I am complaining about just a bra

 

When I was a young girl of about 12 years, I can remember thinking how happy I was because the women in my time didn't have to wear girdles, like my gramma. She felt undressed without hers. It looked hideous to me.

 

My grandma wore a girdle too and the first thing she did after we came back after a long day of shopping is go to her bedroom and take that darn thing off.

 

I wear shapewear full time, but for medical reasons. I'm a three-time incisional (surgery-induced) hernia repair loser. Got a hole they basically can't fix, and the shapewear keeps things so I can stand up and walk around. Most of the time anyway.

 

I got my first pair of nylons in 1968 & they required something to hold them up because this was pre-pantyhose. My mother gave me a girdle that I am sure belonged to one of my older sisters to use. At the time I was about 5' 10" & probably weighed 120 to 130 pounds. I wore it maybe twice & my older sister gave me a garter belt to use. Thank God I discovered pantyhose soon after.

Fast forward to today & I can tell you the exact day I last wore a pair - September 13, 2003. It was for my oldest son's wedding which was an evening event so it required me to be dressed in an evening gown.

 

I found some new in package ones in a bottom drawer. Donated some a while back, but held onto a few in case they become collectibles. I don't wear hose over my compression stockings (rolleyes).

 

Just because you can doesn't mean you should ...... some things are better left unstretched ....lol
