Omgoodness!!!!

 

I had to decide where to go today. I picked an outdoor antique show an hour away. This was my favorite thing, and I will be asking questions about it on the jewelry board under Bronwen's cameo thread. The dealer said it was French and the pearls are cultured. Pearls are genuine. I asked her if she tested the stones, she said no, they are paste. The stones test as spinels. The cameo is signed, but the metal covers it up.

Thank you. The dealer has a space in a local antique mall, and I saw it there, but in the sunlight it was amazing.

 

I got this tea set this morning at a garage sale, $20 for the lot. With the marks, I think I have a good idea of what it is, but if any of you excellent experts can add anything else to positively ID, I'd appreciate your input. I'm thinking that, unlike most of what I find, these are actual antiques??!

 

No expert- guessing lusterware?

 

I'd say lusterware. Best guess 1930s? That's when it was most popular.

I don't see enough of it here to even guess.

Map dowser? It's the right size.

Gold-filled opal slide watch chain, 48"



I thought this was plated, but it appears to be gold-filled.

This is a bit of a mess, working on it, couldn't leave it for $5.


I saw this weird brass frog with wings in the thrift shop for $6. I didn't buy it, was focused on jewelry. I look it up, the cheapest one on line is $60. Duh.

 

20th century rather than 19th, no size mentioned, but would think a sugar shovel...

Dudson, Adams, Wedgwood.

 

Well found, I didn't manage to uncover that while searching. It's a bit big and heavy duty for a sugar spoon, so given the shape it is probably for cheese, like a stilton scoop. The illegible word seems to end in 'ton' so perhaps a different factory, but very similar. Can't say I have come across a set of aluminium cutlery from the period either, so wonder if that was not popular of didn't last.

From left to right they are Wedgwood, Adams, Dudson. The bas relief on the Wedgwood here has a hint of blue and has more of a dreamy quality than usual, that threw me on first look. The Adams dark blue is a bit deeper than the Wedgwood version, but other than that they are very similar if you get both versions of the jug side to side. The Dudson jugs have a more pronounced rope twist to the handles, and the divider design is found on a lot of their items - this is the one I got right.

 

A local historical society was having a sidewalk extravaganza and I found this piece at one of the vendor's booths. It is early McCoy Pottery. Priced at retail levels but I really like it.

Non-jewelry finds. My flea market was great this weekend. I found this 1970s Doranne cat cookie jar, perfect, for $6.
Then this Saddler Blue Willow teapot for $6.

It was about 11 am, and I was in the right place at the right time. Basket of vintage dolls, $10. L to R: Barbie clone Hong Kong, Princess Grace Co., Maddie Mod; oxidized platinum Barbie bubblecut; beat up Ken, I needed his good body, have a good head; Ideal Tammy's brother, Bob, I think; a brunette Midge head and a Let's Dance Barbie dress.

1960s 20 inch vinyl Tiny Tears, restoration project, $5.
And I found this 60 X 84 tablecloth for $17.50 in a local antique mall. No stains, posting on the textiles forum with questions.

 

Not much quality jewelry. This plate was 25 cents each.
The faux squash blossom necklace was the most expensive thing, $3.
Everything else was a dollar or less. There is a match to that shell earring.

 

Beads $1. Screw U necklace $1.
