Dick and Ellie's...Yup, that's the one. MAN o MAN did I ever get some EARLY stuff there. A slip decorated redware plate and a sgraffito decorated redware "egg" bank, both circa 1820-40, 20 bucks the pair, come to mind. Made d*** near a grand on those two pieces. Another time there turned up a box of about a dozen Dags including a memento mori of a baby holding a rose with hand tinted pink on the cheeks and rose, 100 for the box. Sold the baby for 600. Yeah, I really liked ol' Dick and Ellie's:).

It was probably 20-25 years ago I got that Marblehead vase. It was literally a yard sale. Sheets on the lawn filled with stuff.

I haven't been to the Cape in ten years at least. My wife is really missing it though. We might try a Cape excursion this year.

Anyone been to the Newfane Vt. market? Another sweet tiny little picker's paradise market in the most pristine "New England Towne" setting. Got a great pair of Pitkin swirl flasks, circa 1790-1820 there. Guy wanted a buck ($100) a piece. I got'em for 175 the pair. kept 'em for a dozen years or so. Sold 'em by the piece for around 1200 combined. If i remember correctly I also got an A.C. Williams cast iron take apart '34 ford coupe in NEAR MINT condition there. I paid a bit for it, because I was collecting cast iron cars at the time, but it was a centerpiece of my collection due to the PRISTINE condition. This car is one of the few things I kinda wished I held on to over the years. It was really a sharp piece.

    Oops, sorry!

I went to Dick & Ellie's in Dennis once about 5 years ago and was very disappointed! I don't think it's there anymore, Lowe's keeps trying to get approval to build a store on that lot.

Newfane!!! My sister lives about 1/2 hour from there, we used to always go there on Sunday mornings!

Then about 10 years ago we went and it was so sad, lots of junk like dirty old Barbies and broken jelly glasses. Has it revived?
