    It's one of the famous porcelain half doll makers.
    Hutschenreuther maybe, or Goebel but I'm not finding a match.

    I agree with Judy. By looking at the mark, it definitely looks like Gräfenthal. I searched the piece in German, but unfortunately, didn't have any luck. I'm in the antique stores over here quite a bit (living in Franconia), but have to say that as far as bookends go, I see the "Bookworm" set from Gräfenthal a lot, haven't seen this one.

    Regarding the potential worth of the piece, I would say it depends if it is actually part of a set of bookends or not. If so, and if its counterpart is missing, it certainly diminishes the value some. Most single pieces in ebay.de are going from between € 30.00 and up to above € 500.00. Obviously, the top prices are reserved for the ornate pieces like horse & carriages, etc.
