Japanese or Chinese Print or painting on papyrus paper

    It is a Japanese woodblock print. The signature says "Toyokuni ga" (ga meaning "drew). There are three artists who signed that way, I tend towards Toyokuni III (Kunisada) for your print, but I am not sure.

    Thanks for the link 2manybooks. I found the sinature of Toyokuni with several alias which is very close to the signature on my art print or painting. There are so many variable when it comes to these Japanese signatures, Well at least you put me o the right track it is Japanese not Chinese. more research may be needed later this afternoon got to make a run for now.     Mat, I just got a good look at your post I must have over look it some how this morning. a woodblock print, Wow how interesting. It caught my eye as another fellow was putting it back down because of the price being asked for it at the flea market Sunday. I like it very much , the only thing that puzzles me is the position of the feet stance of the actor.
