This is coming up at an auction soon. I have never seen anything like it. Could it be Fenton? Looks to have a polished pontil though. I think I want to own it. Does anybody know anything about it? Thanks in Advance. Sorry I don't have measurements.

    Hi,
Don't think Fenton but it is a gorgeous bowl, I am thinking British and older.

Thank you Greg. I was pretty sure it wasn't Fenton. The Pontil kinda put me off Fenton. Have been unable to find ANYTHING with those colors. I'll start looking at British makers. Thanks for the help!

This wouldn't be considered Peachblow would it?

I doubt you'll pin themaker down. I think one of the Stourbridge factories, late 19th C. Nice.

    Is the yellow UV reactive?

It's is not Fenton because of the Pontil mark. Probably English or French. Is this at Wrodas Auction??

It's not PeachBlow, but is a struck red color. Not peachblow unless the manufacturer so called it.

No it's at a small local auction here in Florida. I thought it might be a sleeper. I would love to have it, just can't decide how much I would pay for it.

I don't know . I have not seen it in person yet. Doesn't look to me like it would be reactive though. But you never know.

    Flattery is always welcome. ;)

I know a chap who awes me: He wrote the bibles on English Glass, ranging from the ordinary to the utterly priceless.

Struck color is dependent upon reheating the glass once it has been formed. The cooling then re-heating changes the color of some glass. Amberina is an example of a struck color. It's amber until reheated.

Interesting.......auction site now has this attributed as Mt.washington glossy Burmese bowl. I don't think that is even close. BWDIK. Off to do some research.

That's interesting, when you first posted it, I also thought Mt. Washington, but didn't pipe up because I know nothing about their glass. Another one I thought of was New Martinsville as shown in this ebay closed listing (below), but I still know very little other than what I've seen. That yellow color bothers me and I'm wondering if the auctioneer didn't PhotoShop that photo to enhance the color.

The New Martinsville does not have the Pontil mark.

thank you for your input Ola and Fenton. The color is what bothers me too. It may be photoshopped I won't know until I see it up close. Also Bothersome to me is the red and yellow seem to be striped on the picture of the bottom. I haven't seen any Burmese that looks like that.
