They try to move things quickly, so they just slap a price on that they think they will get for it. Sometimes, I am lucky. :)

I go to the gym every day and my reward is to go to the resale shop. I'm at their door when they open. :):)

That's how you find the gold...or the silver! I scored a big heavy Italian silver cross necklace that way once. The lady was putting it into the case and I said "Don't bother, I'll take it."(LOL) I'd imagine Anund gets things that way early and often.

The stuff @anundverkaufen gets is insane!

... and couldn't imagine being worth much or having cost what it did.
This is always going to be the biggie -- and it's compounded if the parents were also clueless about some of their 'stuff'!

    [Speaking from experience...]

Got beading thread from @bercrystal and promised to send pictures. The PMs don't allow image uploads, so here we go. These are just two but there are more in the pipeline. One started out as coral beads (angel skin, branch) rattling around in a box. The other was a busted agate necklace and a random pewter bit. The coral has its original clasp. I knotted them.

A Harrisville, NH scene painted by Mary Bigelow, $avers pick for $4.99 and a bronze railroad bell that’s been painted red, marked C&W, missing the finial and yoke but for $9.99...

If that's a railroad bell I'd have gotten help getting it out to my car. The bronze alone is worth more than that! Yowza. I wonder which C&W it was - there were a couple.

Looks much better without the red paint. It’s Colorado & Wyoming.

Going through my big box of finds from an estate sale.

    This is Otagiri, Pussywillow.

I paid $3 for a box of stuff so this came out to..a few cents? I’m pleased with it and plan to keep it.

Also spent a little time puzzling over this. I don’t know that I’ll find an answer because it was such a common pattern and there is no marking on the bottom. It might be a 100 years old or a Christmas Tree shop item, lol.

From the same estate sale box..so cost me a few cents :)

This seems a little similar but obviously much larger. So I don’t think it’s that helpful.
