S. Watson

Hi everybody… I found this beautiful canvas painting at my local thrift store. Signature says
“S Watson”. No period. I’m so green I don’t know if it’s oil or acrylic! Any insight greatly appreciated. The frame measures 23.5 x 31.5.

 

Fyi, it's always helpful to have photographs of the full work including frame both front and back. Also an in focus close-up photograph of both the signature on the front and any labels, stickers or handwritten notations on the back. That said... From what I can see, the address on the frame shop label tells us the work was framed in 1963 or later. Although the painting may not be contemporary to the frame, that gives us an era to start with.
