    Hi
I’m a Toby collector from England.
These were all produced by audley porcelain in Staffordshire between the mid 1970s and mid 1980s...whose early trademark was studio D. There are about 28 different character jugs and 4 ash-pots to collect along with a set of 6 tiny Toby jugs less than 2 inches tall. Many have no marks, some have studio D rubber stamped, impressed or in raised letters But most have a conjoined AP mark.
Most of them are pictured in Steve Mullins book, Toby and character jugs of the 20th century and their makers.
    Hope this helps
    Andy

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Thank you, @Andalf and welcome to the forums! I see that the original poster has not been back since the day of the original question in May 2019. However, good information like this can help at any time, and also could help somebody else!

Too new for me to know about this one. Many newer potteries don't come up with original designs but duplicate older designs such as this one. That's why I thought it was a fake. I stand corrected!

Do all Toby jugs have makers mark? I was given one of a lady in black outfit with no mark on bottom. probably fake I assume.

Many are not marked, and there were (are) many makers in many countries.

Agree, many were not marked. Even ones made back in the original days in the 1750s. But if you'll post a pic, we can take a look and possibly get a bearing as to country and time frame. Sometimes it's not possible but most of the time I'm able to figure out country of origin.
