I got this doll from ebay with no description other than "German 3 inch 1 arm longer than the other and hairs bad" lol
The doll is all bisque, wire jointed, with mohair. She has a crochet dress on. She has no markings and looks like maybe she was once holding something. Im guessing German or French
From the late 1800s to early 1900s
From her size I would guess shes a doll house doll. I'm curious if anyone can maybe add anymore details to her history please and thank you in advance

    Hi Davina!

    Welcome to Antiquers.............

I did click your links, though I usually do not.

I can't really add much to your description. The arm is obviously a replacement, and not a very good one I might add.

Dress is home made.....dolls of this nature often came undressed.

This type of bisque is often called Stone Bisque...........I can't explain why, but the bisque is not of the same quality as painted bisque.

Here are some images of like dolls.

I might add that she could also be Japanese. Possibly German, but French not likely.

s-l500.jpg In my search to try to find the maker of the doll I found this add for these doll wigs but... The smallest doll seems to look a lot like my doll in the face and has the exact same dress on. Also after further inspection I agree the long bent arm is infact a replacement unfortunately...

IMO neither of those wigs look like appropriate replacements for either doll.

Both dolls are in home made crocheted dresses which would have been the popular way to dress the dolls of that era if they came undressed.

Without a name impressed on the doll, I doubt very much that you will find the maker.

@sassafras........perhaps you have a different opinion or can offer more information?
