I have a matt grey Beswick elephant (30cm tall and 34cm long) in immaculate condition. There are 3 markings on the base (shown in the photographs) with the numbers 28 and 4 on separate feet. Does anyone know more about this - age, value etc?

Beswick can be all over the place. A friend is a major collector, he'd know in a heartbeat. These were designed by Arthur Gredington, issued 1943-1975. Value depends on size and colour - I'm not sure if matt grey is more than shiny.

Yes. I once sold a Beswick cow for $850. Try the site mentioned; or there is a Beswick collector's guidebook; your library might have a copy.

Friend paid £1200 recently for one blue bit. There's one of the figurines which is well into four figures, the kitten.
