I received this ages ago. I am now considering getting rid of it and thought I had better see what I could find out first. Any help would be appreciated. One of the arms is split where it attaches.

Oak rocker ca. 1900. Brown furniture has hit the basement as far as value goes, though there may be some light at the end of the tunnel on that. Nevertheless, if brown furniture is down, rockers are even further down. I recently had to give 2 Victorian rockers in perfect condition away; I couldn't even get $20 apiece for them.

I fear that such would be the fate of your rocker, especially with a split on one of the arms.

@Ghopper1924 Shame, it is a nice looking chair, and probably comfortable. What purpose are the steel rods from the arm to the top leg tie doing? Is it original or a modification holding the chair together?

They're for stability. It looks like an old modification.

I had an ash rocker at one point that was alot like yours. It was pretty comfortable and pretty creaky, but even refinished it's worth was minimal.

Thank everyone for your insights. I had wondered if it had been a rocker at some point. It is very comfortable, I just don’t have the room for it now.
