Help Identiying today’s Find....

From what I can guess it almost looks to be a child sized wardrobe......

I think that's CERTIFIED AMERICAN QUALITY (for the HPI seal - Hardwood Plywood Institute) - see here, from 1955 ad:

Further, there was an Atlas Plywood Corp in Boston ca.1950's...

The executive offices were located in the Statler Building, Boston, MA.

 

Good find, SBSVC. I had a feeling it was going to be that kind of thing, but Mr. Google wasn't cooperating.

 

Thank you for your help, google wasn’t bringing me anything either. My wife found this on Facebook classified and was such a nice piece in person. Extremely well kept and close to 200lbs. She paid $75 for it.

 

You couldn't get a new solid wood piece for anything close to that, so as furniture she got a steal. I'm wondering if it wasn't for a record player, depending on how deep it is. Cabinets for 78s would be shallower than holders for 33 1/3 rpms.

 

….. so have determined the stamp is for the drawer bottom plywood. Assuming it hasn't been replaced, would likely be an American piece. Think probably for a dining room with linen/flatware storage in those drawers. Most likely 50s-60s.

 

"Certified American (something)" atop the hpi logo...

Newton, there's one. We weren't being sarcastic or rhetorical, just didn't have the time or energy to go searching... Norton? Easton? Weston? Roxton? Burton?...

 

Since Massachusetts was one of the Original 13, a lot of its towns had names brought along from the UK. So, lots of -tons.
