I need help in setting a value/identity. It has dove tail drawers and is in remarkable condition with the exception of some wear which is consistent with aged pieces. The drawer pulls seem to be carved. Any information or comments would be appreciated!

 

Maple wood dresser from a 1950s bedroom set. Brown wood no longer holds a lot of value to the new generation of kids coming up and value depends upon location too.

I suggest you can check your local Craigslist under "antiques" and "furniture" and see if you can estimate a value that will work to get it sold for you.

 

Chalk paint seems to be the new love in these parts which is wonderful except for true valuable pieces that someone might choose to paint without knowing their furniture history.

 

Yes. Plan on grinning and bearing when some kid who shows up from Craigslist post with "oohs and aaahs" about how great this (formerly beautiful) dresser will look with milk paint crackle and ivy vines painted around on it.

Always get the cash in hand before helping them load it up!

Sometimes it's the best thing you can do; otherwise brown wood often lands in the dumpster.

 

Can't add anything more. Kind of thing I can pick up for under 30.00 at auction here in the Midwest. Sometimes way under. Have even picked up similar for free at the roadside (though not usually in as good condition).
