I bought this string of beads today, since the weight and coolness of the beads struck me.as unusual, considering the wood-like graining. They feel too heavy to be wood, but not quite heavy enough to be stone. They are off-white in color. One of the beads was drilled to make a screw clasp, but the other end of the clasp is gone. They don't look like elephant ivory to me; they're more matte than glossy. 20180930_174405.jpg 20180930_174430.jpg 20180930_174437.jpg

I'd think so, too, but there's something about the weight and feel that makes me suspicious of it. The bead that has been drilled reveals no darker core; it's the same color through and through.

They look like white-washed wood beads to me, but it's hard to tell without holding them. If you have a loupe, looking into the hole might show light wood coloring.

In my experience, better wood beads are a little heavier than cheaper ones. They are still lighter than stone or glass, though.

We posted at the same time. :)

If the color inside the hole is the same inside as outside, that could just mean that the paint or stain seeped inside.
