    Hi there... I'm new :)
just picked up at a yard sale. My husband and I are both police officers with the RCMP and therefore find it especially interesting. Features a Mountie on a horse with all the Canadian Provinces around the edges. It has Lombard England stamped on the back.
We have NO Antique expertise .. but couldn't find a similar one on Ebay, Etsy, etc. Any thoughts ..you can see where the yard sale sticker was peeled off the front, leaving a blemish in the patina. Very lightweight ..

    Not antique. Probably vintage 50s-60s

Leeanne, I really like that lovely (and meaningful to you and your husband) plaque. I am especially glad that you were the person who found and bought it at the yard sale.

Antiques/schmantiques, sometimes our "treasures" don't have to have an "antique stamp of approval" on them, do they? ;)

I would date it a little later.
    1960s-70s
Here in the states, 1970s was dark paneling and brass decor.

It's always fun to have a theme for your collectibles. RCMP should be a fun one. I know I had a pair of English bone china cups and saucers at one time with a Mountie on horseback. Some one from Canada bought them.

    According to the website oldcopper.org,

"'Lombard'. Manufactured by Croft and Assinder Ltd. . Sometime marketed by Derricourt Brassware Ltd., Great Tindale Street, Birmingham 16,Trade Mark lapsed 1972."

A good 2/3rds of the way down the page. The web is full of "Lombard" chargers, but couldn't find another one of these.

edit: I hate to be a kill joy, but I don't think it's a RCMP. I think it's a girl on a horse. She is short and has long hair. I have taken the liberty of cropping and enlarging one of your pics. for a better view.

The dark part just looks like long hair ..its actually just dark black Patina or discoloring behind his head. most definitely a male. And the uniform looks bang on. Thanks for all the info .. not old it seems .. but most interesting that I cant find another one online.

I can't see the gauntlets ...but it's close enough to know who it's supposed to be.

It probably isn't an RCMP horse since the plate was manufactured in England. A Croft & Assinder / Lombard work. I have a similar one, mid 1950s. Been in my family since my grandparents lived there. 39.jpg

I understand this is an old thread but I just acquired one of these plates at an auction. The plate I have is an exact copy of the RCMP rider in that black and white photo above posted by komokwa. And the image is accurate, right down to the gauntlets.

I know this is an old thread, but I think your observation is a bit off. What appears to be long hair I think is either shadow or some of the gold gilt worn away. If you look at the image of the back of the plate you can clearly see it is a male, right down to the gauntlets.

Thank you for the greeting. As requested, here it is. And oops, it was Ladybranch who'd made the comment about the rider being a girl. Sorry. You can make out the gauntlets and the holster under the right arm, so very much RCMP.
