My first post here so hello to you all, I hope this may interest some of you and any comments or advice would be most welcome. This tapestry came to me recently and I am intrigued to know what the image represents, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I have so far drawn a complete blank. My best guess is that it came from a fire screen or frame and that it is Victorian so around 1850.

Many thanks if you can help,

    John.

This is a bit of a wild guess but maybe Lady Jane Grey refusing the crown?

I think Lady Jane is a very good guess. I also think, from the design, it's a bit later than Victorian. First half of 20th century.

20210512_172635.jpg Thank you everyone most helpful, here is the back, the sides show that it has been removed from a frame and these look to show age, oddly much more than the tapestry itself.

I think the reference may have been lost due to my obscure sense of humor. Google "blue ribbon kilt joke". :angelic::angelic::angelic:
