    Hi Everyone,

I picked this up in London a couple of years ago and I think it is an 18th century French Snuff or perfume bottle carved from a nut but I love it if someone could confirm this for me or alternatively tell me what it is. Thanks. E61748D2-9CD1-4F54-A854-7702151634C1.jpeg 77C05C05-D2ED-4C6C-9C06-7FCEF0842413.jpeg 2F5CBC10-25C4-44CB-8B58-3F2B5E70118C.jpeg

    Beautiful!
In France we'd call it corozo secouette:)

    JMHO.
with the Maltese cross and rose and stylized thistle buds it might be Scottish.

It seems Wikipedia thinks that.... But I can't see why all corozo carvings are brown when Tagua nut gives a very convincing ivory look:facepalm:
    So, I suspect they aren't the same:hilarious:

Tagua, corozo, coquilla, vegetable ivory, are all the same - the natural color can range from cream to a medium brown, depending on processing, treatment, age, etc., it also takes dye well, though it only seeps into the surface...
