The shape is an ankh and that bird at the bottom reminds me of Egyptian hieroglyphs.

There is also a mummy, and a berber style fish and birds.

I thought of Egypt first off. 925-1000 doesn't show any similar marks.

It is impossible to have a comprehensive silver marks site. So many countries, periods, manufacturers...
Gold marks is even worse, hardly any info online. Or even in books.

Just an explanation of the mark:
The square on the left has a town mark in the top, that particular dotted squiggle is for Cairo. Below that is an upside down V with a dot, that is for .800 silver fineness.
The square on the right has the symbol for the period 2006-7.
Egypt has an excellent assaying and marking system. There is usually a national mark as well.

    I agree, my mistake.
So was I. But I looked in the English one, which has a slightly different layout to the French one (some lines closer together), and the letters are fuzzier. That often confuses me, especially with my funny brain.
So back to my old French one, which is falling apart from too much use, and there it was, clear even to my old eyes, Alexandria.

The date mark is the one resembling an E with a little protrusion thingy on the bottom, for 2006-7. It looks much like the 1975/6 one, but that doesn't have the thingy.
I hope this image comes across, otherwise there is a clearer one which Bronwen posted some time ago:

I don't rate Tardy's overmuch. Caught out far too many inaccuracies.

That is certainly the case for the British marks.
It is always best to have a book on marks from the specific country, but in my case that would mean building an extension to the house.:playful:
So for many countries I rely on Tardy, Divis (often better), and the internet.
Some countries or agencies publish their assay marks on their sites, which also helps. The date letter page above was originally published by the Egyptian government.
