Featured Curious Where These Bracelets Are From

Quite worn, but in the interest of learning, I'm wondering where these might be from.

 

looks like copper....

 

It does look like copper showing through but it seems less pliable than I would expect copper to be. Very sturdy feeling bracelets.

 

3 strands of heavy copper wire with 2 strands of twisted copper wire covering one of the heavy wires.Work hardened copper can be "harder" and very much like a stiff spring.

They vary the wires and how they are wound, but the treatment of the ends (with the wires welded together into a ball) is the same.

In ethnic jewellery, bracelets are generally worth more if they are an original pair. I don't know if that is the case with these.

 

I've an almost identical bracelet in modern silver. They get copied.
