[IMG] Very recently picked up this painting in a 2nd hand store and am eager to learn more about it, is it an original? Is it of any value etc. I do really like it, it’s a nice Scottish highland scene.

labelled as seen ‘A View. In The Highands’ by ‘S Percy’, little research indicates this would likely be Sidney Richard Percy.
it is beautifully framed although a few chips in the wood here and there, the painting itself looks to be in really nice condition, not behind glass and the back seems to be sealed in more recent times, I am tempted to remove and take a look but don’t want to risk spoiling anything.
I cannot find anything about this particular painting online.
No signature that I can see although I thought this may be covered by the frame, I also found it interesting that it has the plaque attached

Was hoping that someone could take a glance and offer their much appreciated opinion
Framed it is 34.5 x 26cm so not huge
    Thanks
    Ben

Taking the paper off the back will do no harm to the value and might give you more information. I find the uniform nature of the craquelure rather odd.

I agree with Bev that the surface texture looks unusual.

The craquelure and the printed little plaque make me suspicious that this is a home decor repro.
That said, I'm definitely no art expert!

This is definitely a repop! I have seen that type of surface texture before on paintings at thrift shops. Can't think of the correct term though

I was certain I would find a better match, but I'm coming up short. However, this piece is surely based on the work of Sydney Richard Percy.

The texture is either in the board (my guess) or applied over the top -- it is not brush strokes and it is not natural aging.

I don't think you need to take it apart. Its value is as a decorator piece, so keeping the back neat and tidy is the best plan, IMO.
