Isn't it funny how we don't "collect" things, but have many anyway?

    I can so relate! LOL!

omg lol YESSS...haha! I have so many collections...of things I don't collect ***cough***

I think my main prob is I cannot have one of literally anything. If one is good, two is better...ad infinitum

I cleared a house pre pandemic that had a bedroom full of dolls, it was spooky, I wish I'd got more photos.
I sold about 10 but have the rest all boxed up.

It was like the Kellogs Ad.

I'm not seeing anything old................Looks like someone got caught up into the "any doll will be worth $$$'s as time goes on" craze.

Now don't want to appear a Dolly Snob but...I am a bit. If one of these fall into my lap,I nick their hair for rerooting one o'my girls. Not much use to me for anything else.

SO MANY times I've had to be tactful when I get presented with one of these ... (I don't know enough about modern dollies,I only have vintage but some modern ones are quite valuable. I can't tell the diff though and if Ashton Drake and/or a COA is involved, chances are it's not one of them )

Some of the newer dolls can be quite pricey......Annette Himstedt for one, altho I have not checked going prices to know if that is still true.

Anything is worth what you are willing to pay for it. If you love it, and don't care if it grows into more dollars some day, that's true love!!

The deceased householder had kept the bedroom as a shrine to his daughter, she was 60 but had a mental age of 5, she passed away a couple of years before him.
It was sad, but I had to clear it and now I need to get rid.

The mass produced "antique" dolls are pretty easy to spot. They are usually made of bisque (like many of the old), and they are dressed to look antique. Some of the new clothing is quite elaborate.....sometimes too elaborate. They are meant to fool.

Davey.......I can relate to that person.

When I was part of a co-op one of our regular customers used to bring in a relative who was probably in her 30's/40's, but with a mental age much much younger.........She loved dolls, and we had many in our shop as the owner bought and sold many and participated in doll shows.

The customer would buy whatever this younger relative set her eyes upon. Price did not matter. It was an act of love and kindness.

Elle s'appelle Joli (Pretty). I named her due to never finding out who she was or where she was made.

Joli is a 30" walker doll from the 60s.

Don't be shy to post dolls, and if you've already posted, don't be shy to post again!

I would know a Himstedt if I saw one, I think (hope) ,they are quite distinctive but there are some newer ones that look just like those ADG/faux antique type and I am clueless. FOMO on that terribly but I don't think I'll ever know enough to be able to venture into that sphere! I have to sell so I can't buy so it's an ongoing battle! xx

Well I can't seem to stop myself :O

I love working on Sindy clones as they can look SO different.
Only had to give this one some new hair and a bit of blush ( oh and some lashes)
(eta I did two very similar with different colours, think this clone before pic was the other one but they are both almost identical)

Another car boot girl, this one was from her original owner too who let me have her for TEN P!

It was years ago and I didn't take a pic but she was filthy, hair was a NEST and she was nekkid.
I bought her the dress, shoes and necklace she would have had in 1968/1967 when she was a brand new **New Look** Sindy ( which collectors call *Sidepart*)
    She's in lovely condition.
Sideparts' complexions usually go pale & blotchy so I was lucky.

Bet everyone's fed up of my car boot finds but I love them, they make my week!
One more...this was a pound and she's a Gala Pippa,VERY hard to find. Got most of her original outfit, just need one shoe and a hat.
She is what collectors call a Pale Pippa. She has paler hair than the normal Pips, it's a terribly cheap type and not many survive with nice-ish hair like mine.
Pippa is the UK's answer to Dawn
