It's possible Eve. They probably knew who the sitters were.

    This I thought was interesting...

    TRAY 001-001.jpg

Looks European, right? Nope! Asian made. Japanese if I'm not mistaken.

    Thank you!

I had the mark translated but..............nothing!

I've seen the portrait at middle a thousand times in the past 10 years or so, but now for the life of me can't recall who the original artist was/is.

At least it's not one of those "Fake Fragonard" pieces. Dunno about you, but if I see another courting couple described as antique when it's 50s mass production....

Lol! Here you go... frig-001.jpg ...ahahhahha!

I know the Chinese made 18th C. export pieces somewhat similar to my piece, but never seen or haven't found another Japanese version like it as of yet. I believe it's called a dresser-tray(?)

Hi nuff :) I really like this!, very pretty. You ask if it is a Dresser Tray, could be or maybe a pin dish? size would dictate, I think.. what are the measurements? Is that a repaired crack across the top third? :(

Hey, I think that "weird" black and white painting/etching? is of Joe Lieberman and his part in the whole Y2K thing! you might want to check that out, it would put this into the political comic catagory.

SOOOO many great finds everyone! I've been way too busy and have only had time for a quick peek every now and then for a while :( aahhh well :) It's fun looking... JOOOLS!!! LOVE LOVE the penguin, and the guitar!

@Tauriel, thank you and thanks for the Lieberman lead.

More of a scratch than crack. The tray is approx 9 inches.

Sharona, I also love your haul. I once had poodle stuff and such that are now long gone - dang! I did and still do have an owl pin that looks very similar to the owl pendant in your last pic; however, mine is goldtone with amber cabochon body, olive green around eyes and pave set clear rhinestones on crest and forked tail. Mine is also sitting on a branch. It has "ART©" on the back. I know, I know, I know several manufacturers did these jelly belly owls at that time, but in case yours has the same trademark, "ART©" was used by Art Mode Jewelry Creation after 1955.

    Here's one like mine:

This may be the same as yours.

This is a piece we picked-up a few months back. She's a bit beat-up, but I'm sure there's someone out there whose willing to give her all the TLC she deserves.

Hi nuff, probs already know but the mark looks to be Samson, old maker that made a business of copying even older pottery by Meissen and other fine companies.

Oh my goodness such details in a small oil -- the curls, the "crocheted?" shrug, even down to the threads around the "patches" on the skirt.

Nice painting there Trip! I photoshoped it and tried to make it darker so I could read it but couldn't. It looks like S. Toph, and then possibly an Italian name underneath it.

I bought with this piece along with two other miniatures on mahogany panels. I will start a thread in art form. The others two are completely different style and signed on the front. Almost think it is a fake because it so pretty. Loupe shows paint brush mark...
