    I don't think I could go to one in the Netherlands, let alone Chicago. My health has a mind of its own.:(

    Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    Here is one closeup photo I took of some of the detail in the case. This was behind glass but came out pretty well, I think.

    And now I should stop hijacking this thread! At least it shows how beautiful some of this type of work can be.

    Ooooh beautiful, thank you Fig.:kiss: I want.:greedy::)
    Uzbek cloisonné is certainly among the most beautiful in the world. You can tell Uzbekistan is in the centre of the Silk Road, connecting Persian and Chinese culture. There is always some old Central Asian Shamanic symbolism as well, especially in the bold shapes and outlines.

    I have a pair of old Uzbek earrings with those small turquoise cabochons, and pearl dangles, but no enamel. And others with coral, pearl and glass cabochons.
    Most 'Uzbek' cloisonné earrings and rings I see nowadays are made in Turkey.
    Turkey manufactures a lot of fake ethnic jewellery. A lot of 'Native American' jewellery as well.
