Hanging glass globe - for fish?

This is a little pale green glass globe that comes with an old chain hanger (very rusty) with a piece that fits inside the opening so that it can be hung. There were water stains inside, so I think it could be an old hanging fish bowl or something for plants? The globe has one seam going around with a rough opening and lots of little bubbles. It's about 4" wide. Does anyone know the age and what it was used for? Thanks.

I had something similar I believe was for rooting cut stems. Is it sturdy enough to hold some water?

It can probably hold an inch or two of water. Any more and it could fall down and break. What a mess that would make!

I think this one is a wasp catcher rather than for rooting.

Interesting. A little syrup in the globe to catch the wasps? That could work.
