    Hi,
One of my favorite finds came from a horrible yard sale. Was driving by and saw the sign. Stopped and it was all horrible used baby stuff. The baby was three years old and Mom decided to get rid of everything. Stained bibs, torn clothes etc. As I was leaving I saw five large cardboard boxes by the driveway. I looked in and there was five boxes of Depression Glass. I asked the woman want she wanted for the glassware. She said a dollar a box. I gave her 25 dollars. I would have given more but 25 was all I had at the time. There was a complete dinner set of 12 place settings of green American Pioneer and all of the serving pieces. Plus 30 other pieces of DG. Sold the entire set for 1500 dollars and the other pieces went for another 200 dollars. Took me three days to sell all of it. I went back a week later but could not find the house. I wanted to give the woman more money but it was a big development.

Is it? I might have thought German.

    Special Dutchman was Julian Onderdonk!!

Defintely a Dutch name, from my region, we have a lot of 'donks' here. I have cousins with the surname Verdonk. Donk is an old dialect word for forest.
A Texan of Dutch descent. He made some beautiful paintings:

While searching for Julian I also came across the Vander Ende-Onderdonk House. I remember it from the Dutch-New York connection which is often commemorated when our royals visit the US. Maybe Julian was related to those Onderdonks?

It's funny really. I contacted four of the largest auction houses in the world. Everyone seems interested. One guy emailed me back within two minutes for pictures... it'll be interesting to see what happens...

Beautiful piece of engineering. Imagine the hands its been through. The pristine land it has surveyed.
I'm always amazed that the glass on these antiques remain intact when I can't keep a drinking glass on hand for over a month without breaking it.
    Congrats!

Figuring out which national level auction house to use is difficult. Not my area. The guy at Skinner

How was your experience with Skinner’s? Good I must assume...the guy there is very kind, answers a lot of questions.

    My experience was very nice.

Besides the Onderdonk, I also brought a few more paintings that I had picked up at a yard sale.

They took them all, and sold them all.

I live about 40 miles from their gallery in Framingham, so it was not a problem for me to deliver rather than mailing the Onderdonk and worry about it getting lost or damaged.
