Cloisonne help please

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Russell Leiner, May 5, 2021.

  1. Hey experts, hoping to get some guidance with this piece of cloisonne. I bought this as a gift for my mom in the early 80's. Well, as time has passed so has my mom. This cloisonne box has come full circle.

I know nothing about it. It doesn't appear to have any hallmarks on it, or I'm looking in the wrong places.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.....

Perspective is showing the top too small for the box. They fit, as the other pix depict.

I'm taking it that the enamel on the base is blue/turquoise - this fits with it being Chinese. I suspect it was new/nearly new when you bought it in the 80's. @komokwa lol at the price and description on the one you found on Rubylane!

Some sellers. It couldn't be more Chinese if it tried.
I agree with Ce about the dating and the price. Even if you take off the zero you could easily find cheaper ones.

  6. Thank you @komokwa , that sure looks identical to mine.

I'm no expert but I do tend to agree with @Ce BCA and @Any Jewelry as to Chinese vs Japanese. The enamel is definitely blue.

As far as price is concerned, we all know anyone can ask however much they want. That's no indication of value until the hammer comes down. The sentimental value is what makes this a keeper for me. Far from a priceless antique, but loving thoughts of mom when I look at it.

Thank you all for your help.

That is much more important than monetary value.
