Featured Glass barrel decanter

first question... the decanter.

My mum passed a few years ago and the one item tagged for me was a glass barrel decanter. I remember it as a kid. Not looking to sell though. Just wanted to know a little background on it.

Most likely pre-60s purchased in England (that's where she was from). Relatively common, as it was missing one of the little liquor mugs I found one for sale in Victoria, BC.

I'd like to keep rum or bourbon in it, just for "show"... really! So is it lead? toxic? Metal bands are? Origin? Check? Year?

It should be perfectly fine to keep spirits in it.Ive seen these often,but never that white cracked looking glass,very cute.I first thought 1950s,but I found this wich makes me go "Hmmm". wash it well...and the spigot...before putting any fine hooch in there...!

 

Crackle glass. Clean it out with denture tablets, that'll sterilise it well enough. I think it's between the wars.
