A new buy and looks to me from the fifties/sixties and is made from a steel welded frame with a polyester inside covering . So who knows more and could this be a one time off from artist ?And maybe some links to the model like this shown in the internet ? Think your dating a bit early. More likely to be 1980s.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

I don't know about dating, but search term that might help is "shoji screen lamp" (edit: although the welded steel seems a bit off for shoji screen inspired...)

Given scale, I think it may fall into the "post-modern" category. (Inspired by shoji screens, of course.)

Can you please post a picture of the plug and electrical wire (if these appear to be original to the lamp).

As already noted, this appears to be a newer lamp.
I can see this working with several different decorating styles.

I agree with 1980s Shoji (Japanese screen) style.

It's cool-looking though, and would fit right into a Mid-century interior. There was a huge Japanese influence at that time too.

That's what it looks like with two working lights in it . Three is the amount in it but have to dismantle it to put in a new bulb . P1010743 (Medium).JPG

Here's the plug and switch from the lamp and think now if original the lamp is maybe Italian en 70/80 time . P1010750 (Medium).JPG P1010746 (Medium).JPG P1010754 (Medium).JPG P1010752 (Medium).JPG

Plug and switch certainly look -- to my eye -- older than the 1980s. And rather than "polyester," are you sure the lining isn't fiberglass?

I agree with Debora that it looks like fiberglass. Here in the States I have never seen anything like that plug and switch - that's a job for the folks across the pond.

Youre right about the fibreglass . My mistake to call it polyester . But any link on the switch maybe to determine the age maybe more ?

Plug and switch look mid-1960s to mid-1970s to me. And I spent a lot of time in Europe in those years. But not my area of expertise (if I have one at all.)

That's definitely a European plug; it wouldn't fit in an American outlet.
