Featured Old or New Pasta Cutter ?

    I don't think that's a pasta cutter. Looks more like a bean slicer/stringer.

    To me, early 1900s design.

    I did too, until I looked for signs of age.
    That green paint must be extra strong & durable.

    I think those that say pasta cutter have never made pasta by hand.
    Pasta has to be rolled out several times by a pasta machine or by hand to get the viscosity needed, before it is cut into strips or shapes. You can't put a ball of dough in the top of a slicer and expect to get good pasta.:pompous:

    (I've been watching too many cooking shows, I blame Masterchef Australia.:rolleyes:)

    I must say I have never made pasta by hand. The reason I found that first one was my aunt suggested it might be a pasta cutter. But I will admit I stared down in that whole on the top for a good 5 or so min. Trying to figure out how that thing would be used or why it would be used to cut pasta. :p So I am going with bean slicer too.

    It's the twin of the one my grandmother had - and she used it to slice beans!
