Marta Hoepffner?

Does anyone know anything about a German photographer named Marta Hoepffner? I found a cool framed photograph with a note on the back of it. It’s in German so I can’t read it, but I could read the name of the person who signed it and it appears to closely match the signature I’ve seen of this photographer/artist. It looks like she did more artsy stuff, though, not shots like these. Anybody have any insights or know where I might have luck looking?

Marta Hoepffner (1912–2000) was a German artist and photographer. She studied at the Städelschule under Willi Baumeister and participated at the New Frankfurt-project.

It says "Viele herzliche Geburtstagwünsche von Marti Hoepffner", "Many fond birthday wishes from Marti Hoepffner".
At least I think it says Marti. It is not unusual for a Marta to be called Marti.

With those headscarves, Portugal maybe? The Algarve has those coastal pine trees too.

 

Certainly could be. But the scarf was a fashion thing at the time too.

You guys have me headed down a “coastal pine” google search rabbit hole now it looks like Marta Hoepffner had a photography school on Lake Constance, and its hard to find older photos but it looks like there may have been similar trees at one point. If this is the same Marta Hoepffner, could be that! Great idea to look at the trees.

 

I suggest you find an example of her signature on the internet.

could be. her family had relations with Hugo Ball of the dada-movement. she seems to have exprimented with all kinds of techniques and styles.
on first glimpse it looked like young Leni Riefenstahl.

 

Thank you so much for everyone’s input on this! As an update: I reached out to a gallery in Detroit that had an exhibition on the artist a few years ago to get an opinion on the signature, and through a chain of very helpful people in the international art world my email eventually reached “Marta Hoepffner-Gesellschaft für Fotografie e.V.,” an association in Hofheim, Germany, dedicated to Marta Hoepffner’s life and work! I am waiting for more information directly from that association, but the opinions along the way are that the note is definitely hers and the photo likely is as well. Pretty cool for a thrift store purchase!
