Featured Help with French (?) white metal hallmark

Hi all

I bought a typical 1940s style sapphire and diamond ring, sold as French, and it has the pictured marks inside. Possibly a left-facing dog's head when viewed from a certain angle? I'm starting to go a bit cross eyed... I thought it was likely platinum but can't find anything online which looks similar. I'm not very familiar with non-UK hallmarks so I'd very much appreciate any expert info!

You posted a very nice crisp pic, kudos But it always better to post the whole piece too
First, French hallmarks are stuck on the outside of rings band, never inside...
Maker's mark for jewellery is in a lozenge cartouche...

That looks nice and reasuringly chunky -- not something you see every day.

If you stick around you'll soon learn that people here are very keen on seeing entire pieces. They'll say it helps with identification, which is true but only part of the story. They just can't get enough!
