I got this today along with a German military sword. The old lady said it was a cap gun, though I cannot find one like this nor can I find the serial number .
It is made with solid brass and the handles look like mother of pearl.

Does anyone know if this is actually a toy or used for something else ?

    Thank You 001.JPG 002.JPG 003.JPG 004.JPG 005.JPG 006.JPG

Some toy! if that's what it is. Sure not done on a 3-D printer. How would you keep cap in place before the hammer hit it? I remember ones that had a track for the strip of caps that never held them very well but can't immediately see how this would work. Cool though. Don't you need @springfld.arsenal & @anundverkaufen ?

I’m pretty sure it’s a cyclists pistol used to scare off dogs. Flobert or Velodog might yield a similar pistol on google.

I don't think cyclist used a black powder percussion cap gun for dogs.

This is hilarious from the million dollar link davey found:

"double barrel cap and ball pistol don't know much about this gun,"

Doesn't know much, but knows it's worth $1 million!

That is what I need for the hundreds of copper percussion caps I have here somewhere. The original percusion caps were so called becaue they resembled little hats. The correct size fits onto the nipple quite firmly and I tried some with a pocket pistol, just the cap alone makes a sizable bang.
Floberts were a .22 blank, but the Velodog round was a low power .22 round that actually shot a bullet, to deter dogs, in theory.

Cool cap gun. I like it. I found one of those little tiny Austrian made ones last week, about the size of a quarter.
