Featured A painted box, any idea of age ?

Hello Everyone ! Long time no see. I have been able to get out and do a bit of shopping lately and I picked up this box for a few dollars. I am drawn to old boxes and this one was a bit different. Not very big at 9" x 5" and I am curious as to age, origin, etc.
Any thoughts ?

I'll guess it's a bench made piece, from house molding lumber - I'd say 1880-1920. Hard to tell from photos, but it may be made of hard wood such as walnut or mahogany.

It has a small applied handmade label on the bottom, not sure why.

 

I think it was painted at a later date.
Sort of looks like the 1970s decoupage green. My MIL painted everything that color.

After my total hysterectomy for early cancer I have had some difficulty adjusting and haven't been very pleasant company. Hopefully things will settle down a bit and I can enjoy the Forums again. It's good to be back !

I don't know anything about your box, sorry, guesses 2nd half 20th century but i like the color!

Wood, thickness thereof, and how hinges are set makes me think modern import.

 

Agree, another indicator being the bottom pic. The left end looks freshly saw-cut, no finish sanding nor rounding from wear.
