Many thanks in advance. Luke

As @Debora says, it is from Morocco, specifically Fez. Looks nice with the white metal rims. They have been making this type of item there since the early 19th century, copying patterns from all over the Middle East. The high gloss glaze on the exterior suggests it's a later 20th century example. Still a nice item though.

Try using Safi as a search term.

I agree, it is from Safi, coastal Morocco.

I could be wrong, but I thought I could pick out 'Fez' in Arabic on the base for this one.

I don't read Arabic, so I can't read it, but here are both names.
    Safi: آصفي
    Fez: فاس

Yep, I thought I could see Fez (pic needs rotating) rather than Safi. Most of the more recent (marked) Safi ones I have seen were written in English. Patterns are pretty much copied between the two, but that said having just looked into it a bit now looks like the metal rims are a Safi feature.

I agree, metalwork on Moroccan ceramics are typical of Safi. I would have been surprised if it had been Fez, but never say never.;)
