I don't remember if i had posted this on here before. I have had it for a while and never found the artist.
the outside measurements are 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 1/4" thick. the material is porcelain or similar. feels and sounds hollow.
I think the name is Sipos??

I think the writing of the name is longer than the 5 letters of Sipos.

Croatian spelling of the name is
Šipoš, I think that’s what’s on the painting. Writing on back seems to be in Spanish. Sorry I can’t help more.

Can't read what's on the back. Do know it's not written in Spanish. Appears to be a shop name, the name of the artist and an address.

Writing at back is not Croatian. Mansarda should be Spanish, And it means roof. Am I wrong?

Techo is roof in Spanish. The word "mansarda" is used though and associated with a mansard roof. According to the internet, "mansarda" in Croatian means attic. Dunno if that's true.

I thought I speak Serbian Croatian as my native language..I guess not. We do have a lot of synonyms but never heard this one before. I’ll leave it up to experts.

I just thought if the Painting is of A Croatian Church why wouldn't the tag be in Croatian?

No idea, but I’m telling you that is not Croatian that I know. Maybe because the black tag was added/glued later.

I pinged my family in Zagreb, she could not read all lines but here this is what she was able to read:”tehnika gips vodena boja, unikat”. This translates to “technique -gypsum, water color, unique.” My Croatian is not that good

My pleasure. I was intrigued by it. Handwriting is difficult to read and living in States 25 yrs away from that language is adding up :shifty:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Thank you for asking your family. I didn't reply to this question earlier, as it was hard to read the handwriting. I was trying to figure out what language it was, at least.

Thanks a Bunch Branka. That was very nice of you to ask your family. Looks like they translated everything but the artist name on the tag.

Unique is right. I couldn't find anything comparable to this gypsum plaque.
