I have begun disassembly of my 1930's Cold Wave Desk and have reached the point where I'm attempting to remove the stator from the housing, but it seems to be lodged in place. This is my first restoration process and want to make sure I'm doing things right. I've seen some fans in which the stators are welded in place, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I have also been thorough to remove any screws or fasteners holding anything in place.

Any insight into how I should go about loosening and removing the stator would be great!

Heat the housing up causing it to expand and then pull them out. The tape/wrapping may have become "gummy" and are stuck to the walls.

I've repaired a few electric fans and other vintage motorized equipment. Usually they just need lubrication, or brushes, wires or connections replaced. I wouldn't remove the windings unless you think you really need to. They are just coils of wire, and don't go bad unless severely shorted out, in which case they need to be replaced, but where do you find replacements? Better in my opinion to leave in place and rewire if and as needed.
