Foot Stool Mark 1.jpg Foot Stool Mark 2.jpg Foot Stool Mark 3.jpg I've had this foot stool for 30+ years and it's clearly much older than that. I didn't think it was marked at all until I began sanding it and look what popped up! Strangely, the impressed mark is on the OUTSIDE of one of the upper end rails - not the inside or on a stretcher, where you might expect it. You can see it to the right side of the first photo.

I've owned a lot of Arts & Crafts over the years (and seen LOTS more), so I'm fairly well acquainted with the brands and shop marks, but I can't find any shop mark like this one. I can't quite read it - and I don't want to influence your opinion by guessing. Any ideas??

Like you, I am well versed in the movement and makers and this is a stumper. Agree that it is a period piece but can't offer much help. Last three letters, ART or AFT?

King Craft: perfect, thanks. And yes, blindingly obvious! Darn grain, perhaps it should have been a nice ash piece. Thanks all!

Being in the Midwest, I have not encountered this brand. Seems to be good quality and a nice find. Now, going off to research ……

Yep, agrees, i'd say that's correct.
That Cali Historial Design site is very informative for mission furniture, especially for peeps like me who don't collect it but dabbles in it. One of the best sites on the net for mission but, bring your checkbook, they don't mess around with junk.

It certainly is, and I even came across someone who could be a distant relative. 3 guesses who (the only recognizably Dutch name).

LOL, yeah, it's possible of course but, not likely i would think. It's a cool trademark though, that very simple windmill.
