COSTUME JEWELRY EXPERTS-HELP M ON A VINTAGE NECKLACE MFG

Do any of you jewelry experts recognize this, I don't know what you call them, manufacturers' tags (?) that hang down on the back of necklaces, with an M on it? Plus what are those tags? called? Thank you.

It could help posting a pic of the front. Someone may recognise the style and era which would narrow down the search.

 

If you mean the pendant, it is the same on both sides, blank. There is a dark dot on the back of the dangle. It isn't gold.

 

I am assuming you posted that so I had that site as a resource, but not necessarily an M dangle. Thank you

I've had that hang tag before too. NICE quality piece, but never could identify it.

 

That "M" belongs to Madewell. I've come across several of their pieces ... well made, attractive costume stuff. You can see the same tag/dangle in this photo from their website.

Not a name I've ever seen before.

 

I think they originally were a denim company. Seems they're somehow now related to J. Crew.

 

Hot mall brand. A sister brand of J. Crew. (Like Gap and Banana Republic are sister brands.)

Should add that J. Crew launched its Madewell division in 2006 so (obviously) not vintage.

I knew it was new; I'm fairly good at pre-1970 marks, but post-2000 is terra incognita.
