Found this Victorian tea warmer, but still nothing like this, with such elaborate handles and spout.

    Thanks again.

Wow, this is getting stranger by the minute. If so, They must have been some pretty dag-nab-it important hands :). Thats a lot of work for hand washing.

They do seem a bit smaller next to the oranges than this one.

    Thanks @Jivvy
Going to keep looking into both of these.

Because I'm using one of their photos, here's a link to a Sacramento restaurant where "Hand washing is done before and after your meal."

:wacky:So now is it possible that the Safi Moroccan tea pots have all been missrepresent over the years?
All online auction sites seem to refer to this style as a tea pot (aka: water pitcher)... which is very understandably mis-translated visually taken into account our western culture?

That would mean most all of the pottery basins portable hand washing stations of the past broke sometime when throwing out the dirty water, else after they started having water piped in, they threw the pots away and keep the basin for hand washing, hence so few pots around these days.

    Hahahaha :) Not likely.

Great thread all, I really enjoyed everyones comments.

Moroccans are notorious mint tea drinkers, every Moroccan household I've visited over the years offered me mint tea, often from a similarly shaped pot.
Maybe the same model pot was used for tea, and with an added basin, for water?

A million years ago, I dated a gent from Morocco. He made me tea, but never poured water over my hands.

I'm thinking that was a missed opportunity.
