Hello, I got this silver spoon marked 1000. It was confirmed by the jewelry shop and by myself through ice cube test to be silver.
It looks to be hand engraved, any extra details and informations about this piece would be appreciated.
    Weight: 65grams
    Length: 25 cm

Welcome David. It looks like a sugar sifter spoon.

What test did the shop do? 1000 is usually associated with silver plate.

That spoon could also have been intended for serving olives or other small food items in liquid.

Yup that what made me skeptical at first. I guess he did some scratches at the sides, not sure though.

Yup it might. Might it be just for decoration?

The ice cube test is not conclusive to distinguish between silver plate and solid silver. Where are you, David?

I don't understand your meaning. It obviously has a useful purpose. What is "just for decoration?"

I agree, it was made to be used. The fact that it looks nice means the designer gave it some thought.

Actually it really might. Thank you!

I guess I must get another expert opinion about its metal composition, It won't hurt.

You should. But it will hurt if the tester scratches too deeply - which some one appears to have done if the scratch is the dark spot on the edge of the bowl.
