I found this at my local thrift store today - and for only $19.95 I figure even if it's not a good painting/known artist, then the frame is worth at least that much, right?

Any idea of the artist's name & any thoughts on the painting itself would be sincerely appreciated!

I'm glad the artist left out the antennae

How funny! I thought that didn't enhance the scene too.

Now here's a Venezuelan artist who knows his Monet. César Prieto.

Ah well - someone here will know if he's known at all!
So Debora - do you like it? (Thank goodness you didn't say 'factory' again! lol)

Yes, I like it. Think worth trying to identify artist.

Probably someone who painted in their free time.

I'm going to disagree. To my eye, it doesn't appear to be an amateur work.

There’s a fine line between a talented amateur and a less than stellar professional. In my admittedly snooty opinion, the only similarities between this and a Monet is that they’re both landscapes on canvas.

I didn't mean it was like a monet in talent - it made me think of a monet because - I think - of the ... softness of he painting? Not sharp & in clear focus (if that makes sense)

Wish we could identify artist but not sure how to do so. Already tootled around Google Venezuela but...
